The 4th International Textile Exhibition (TEXPO) organized a two-day exclusive fashion showcase for the media and foreign buyers. The event featured a treasure trove of designs, putting the spotlight on ready-to-wear, resort wear, and luxury pret items. The collections showcased at the event were exclusively curated with a focus on sustainable fashion, keeping in line with the theme of this year’s TEXPO, ‘Weaving the Way to Sustainability’.
On day 1, part-II, of the prestigious event, the collections by prominent designers Wardha Saleem, Amna Aqeel, M Jaferjees and Deepak Perwani kept the stage lit with their stylish outfits and created a buzz.
Wardha Saleem…Cool and Quirky
The designer started off with playful vibrant colors focusing on kaleidoscopic patterns and animal prints. The collection saw pants, skirts, and jackets with floral embroideries that were pretty yet innovative. The bold tailoring and sparkling details made for an interesting watch. It was colorful and fun.
AIDF (Asian Institute of Fashion Design)…Too Much To Handle
Evolving designers from AIFD showcased a contemporary mix of traditions, art, style and grandeur. There was a wide range of fabrics, mixed with embellishment techniques. Over embroidered and far too reminiscent of clothes one has seen before, there wasn’t much in the collection that was catwalk worthy. The showcase lacked ‘Wow’ moments.
Amna Aqeel…The Monochromatic Party
This designer just keeps getting stronger and stronger with a very distinct aesthetic that has refined itself with each passing collection. This year was no different with monochromatic canvas the designer showcased her craft with edgy cuts and pearl details. The collection was very structured and apt for those who want to make a real statement. With the brand’s signature ensembles, sequins, and very trendy florals, Amna Aqeel had us wanting more.
One word to describe M. Jafferjees ‘Resort 2023’ collection was ‘dreamy’. Document bags, envelope clutches, cross-pleated laptop bags, and attaché cases, the brand showcased an array of timeless classics that blend traditional values with modern sensibilities. The outfits for women designed by Wardha Saleem were smartly kept on minimal lines for the leather accessories to shine.
Deepak Perwani…The King of Couture
Deepak Perwani closed the show day 1 with ‘Starry Starry Night’. It was indeed one of the most glamorous collections of the night and showcased shimmer and glitter in abundance. The minimal diffusion collection with silhouettes blending Eastern and Western fashion with subtle embellishments on lux fabrics. The designer played to its strengths and displayed master craftsmanship. Each piece was styled differently and worn in many ways, and that’s what we loved. The bewitching Sonya Hussyn was the perfect muse.
