Style Files: Decoding Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt’s Wedding Look

We had more than a sneaking suspicion that Ranbir Kapoor’s wedding to Alia Bhatt would be an extravagant affair. But the actors opted for a low-key affair with close family members and friends. The wedding took place at the Kapoor family’s ancestral home at Vaastu in Mumbai. Of course, we had to have a little gush over the details of the day, as captured by photographers from House on the Clouds, starting with Alia Bhatt’s wedding dress, a stunning embroidered Sabyasachi creation.

For the wedding ceremony, Alia ditched the traditional red lehnga and wore a hand-dyed ivory organza sari. It had gold embroidery with fine tilla work. The needlework featured an embroidered handwoven tissue veil. The actress choose to wear Sabyasachi’s heritage jewelry that featured a heavy necklace with cut diamonds, earrings, bangles, maangtikkapati and hand-strung pearls.

Matching up with Alia, the groom Ranbir Kapoor wore an ivory sherwani with uncut diamonds, a silk organza safaand shawl with zarimarori embroidery. The kilangi by Sabyasachi Heritage Jewellery featured uncut diamonds, emeralds, and a multistrand pearl necklace. Both bride and groom are styled by Ami Patel.

In a joint statement on Instagram Alia and Ranbir wrote,“Today, surrounded by our family and friends, at home … in our favourite spot – the balcony we’ve spent the last 5 years of our relationship – we got married.”
