After releasing intriguing poster and character teasers, the makers have finally released the official trailer of Taxali Gate. Set in the backdrop of the walled City of Lahore, the movie aims to delve into the complex dynamics of consent and societal norms, offering a compelling narrative within the context of historical importance.
As per the films press release, the heart of the trailer is the compelling performance of Ayesha Omar, who seems to embody the role of a sex worker with a nuanced and deeply resonant portrayal. Her on-screen counterpart, Yasir Hussain, skilfully navigates the complex emotions of affection and societal expectations, refusing to formalise their bond through marriage due to the stigmas attached to her profession and the fact that she could lose her steady income if they were to marry. The chemistry between Ayesha and Yasir serves as a captivating focal point, promising a deeply emotional and thought-provoking exploration of societal norms and relationships.
Many are unaware of Aleeha’s screenplay and writing skills. From ‘Kataksha’ to ‘Javed Iqbal’, his command over writing memorable lines has been a common denominator. His films may have lacked marketing and weren’t promoted according to the big fat commercial potboilers. But, once they arrive on OTT, people will witness Aleeha’s writing credentials as well.
Written and directed by Abu Aleeha, Taxali Gate features Ayesha Omar, Yasir Hussian, Babar Ali, Aly Khan, Nayyar Aijaz, Iftikhar Thakur, Mehar Bano, Khaled Anum, Iffat Umer, Umer Alam and Sherhryar Cheema. The film releases in cinemas on February 16, 2024.
