Sajal Aly Aces Her Traditional Look With Panache At ‘What’s Love Got To Do With It?’ London Premiere

Sajal Aly’s international film debut ‘What’s Love Got To Do With It?‘ is up for release. Ahead of it dropping in cinemas, the makers planned a grand premiere, in London at the Odeon Luxe cinema in Leicester Square with the cast in attendance. At the event, Sajal Aly was seen standing shoulder-to-shoulder with co-actors Lily James, Emma Thompson, among others.

Unapologetically fashionable, Sajal looked super suave in a custom-made shimmery ensemble by Nomi Ansari. The midnight blue farshi gharara with a high-neck shirt was a smart mix of desi with a contemporary twist. Aly’s further accessorized her look with diamond, emerald and sapphire earrings by Pakistani brand, Sherezad Fine Jewellery.

Speaking to the press about her role in the film, Sajal said, “I am actually glad and so happy that I did this project. And the reason I did this project when I read the script was because it seems to me the very first project that shows Pakistan and Pakistani culture in the right way. It has shown Pakistan as colorful, joyful and beautiful.”

Elaborating on her international debut, Aly said: “I honestly never thought of it. I live in the moment I don’t think about the future. This film, coming my way was a surprise for me. I am just glad I am representing Pakistan on this platform. It is because I was an outsider, right? This was my first international project. So initially of course I was very nervous but everyone made me feel like I belong here.”

Directed by Indian filmmaker Shekhar Kapoor with Jemima Goldsmith’s screenplay, ‘What’s Love Got To Do With It? is a British romantic-comedy that also features Asim Chaudhry, Shabana Azmi, Oliver Chris, Jeff Mirza and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan.

The film is slated to open on February 24 in the UK.
