Jinn Ki Shadi Unn Ki Shadi: HUM TV Dares to Blend Horror, Humor, and Romance

Horror-comedies walk a fine line — lean too heavily into scares, and the audience is too tense to laugh; pile on too much humor, and the terror loses its bite. HUM TV seems ready to strike that delicate balance with its upcoming drama series, Jinn Ki Shadi Unn Ki Shadi.

The channel dropped the first teaser on Instagram, sparking buzz around the show’s unusual premise: a love story between a human and a jinn. Starring Wahaj Ali and Sehar Khan in lead roles, the teaser introduces Ali as a poetry-loving romantic living in an old house, while Khan plays the supernatural admirer who falls for his verses.

The star-studded cast also includes Arslan Naseer, Romaisa Khan, Sidra Niazi, Laiba Butt, Syed Jibran, Irfan Motiwala, Nadia Afgan, Tamkenat Mansoor, Arbaaz Khan, Asif Khan, and Nabeel Ahson. Directed by Saife Hasan — who previously helmed Tan Man Neel o Neel, a drama that fueled national discourse on vigilantism — the series is penned by Syed Nabeel and produced by Momina Duraid Productions.

Interestingly, Wahaj Ali isn’t new to horror-romcom territory. Viewers may recall his role opposite Neelam Muneer in the 2017 serial Dilnawaz, a project fans are already comparing to this new venture.

While the release date is still under wraps, director Saife Hasan revealed that filming began nearly three months ago. With equal parts intrigue and unease, audiences are bracing for Jinn Ki Shadi Unn Ki Shadi — and for a horror comedy, that’s exactly the right reaction.
