HUM TV’s recent Ramadan outing ‘Very Filmi’ is the story about Dania (Dananeer Mobeen) and SRK aka Syed Rohaan Kareem (Ameer Gilani). Both the young individuals are forced to get married as their parents have decided their fate. Interestingly both the protagonists have studied filmmaking and this is the only common thing between them. Dania’s grandmother played by Bushra Ansari wants her to at least meet Rohaan. As the story progresses Dania and Rohaan try their level best to avoid this marriage. What happens next will form the rest of the enterprise?
The Highlights
‘Very Filmi’ starts on a high note, with the entry of Rohaan. The scenes thereafter are strictly okay. It picks up only with the entry of Dania. We are introduced to unusual yet interesting characters like Danish (Nabeel Zuberi) who behaves like a robot. Ali Safina plays Rohaan’s Mamu who is always on the go to save money.
The interesting aspect of the Ramadan special show is the filmi twist. The writing by Muhammad Ahmed is contemporary and smartly written. The dialogues are sharp and witty, the characters are interesting and well fleshed out. Ali Hassan’s direction is praiseworthy. He has evolved as a storyteller and this is evident on many occasions. He knows the art of giving viewers a fun time. He isn’t giving out the plot of the enterprise, hence, one doesn’t know where the narrative is heading.
Refreshing Performances
Talking of performances, Dananeer delivers a refreshing performance. Ameer needs to hone his craft. Ali Safina brings the comic relief. Bushra Ansari is grace personified. It is a treat to watch her. Umar Khan looks promising and his comic timing is near perfect. Deepak Perwani returns to the screen after a long time and his act is on point. Salma Hassan and Adnan Jaffer are effective.
Verdict So Far
Summing it up, ‘Very Filmi’ takes a promising start. It has ample merits to strike a chord with viewers. The unique narrative along with ample twists and turns makes up for a good watch.
