GEO Entertainment’s recent Ramadan special show ‘Ishqaway’ has managed to grab eyeballs amongst the range of mediocrity being aired on prime time. The show written by Amar Khan and directed by Zeeshan Mehmood is headlined by Aagha Ali and Nazish Jahangir. Bankrolled by Abdullah Kadwani and Asad Qureshi of 7th Sky Entertainment, here’s why ‘Ishqaway’ is highly watchable.
Aagha Ali Strikes Again
Over the years, Aagha has developed a reputation as the go-to actor to star in plum projects. Especially after the humongous success of ‘Zakham’, the actor is now considered to head an enterprise solely on his shoulders. As Shahrukh in ‘Ishqaway’, he accepts a challenging comic role and emerges with flying colors. He makes you laugh with his comic timing, shines in the emotional moments, and showcases his caliber to the fullest. Aagha yet again proves, that he’s in a league of his own. Moreover, he shares a wonderful chemistry with Nazish.
Amar Khan Does It Again
Writing a Ramadan special play and balancing the entertainment quotient is not an easy task. It’s clear that Amar Khan knows how to translate emotions on screen, an aspect that plays out on various occasions in the show. The dialogues are very witty and sharp and also hilarious as required. Not just that her writing is progressive and addresses societal issues as well.
Strong Supporting Backup
The supporting actors leave a mark in their respective parts. Mehmood Aslam is so good, it’s great to see him in a dual avatar. Maria Wasti is electrifying. With her commanding presence, authoritative attitude, and hunger to learn music, this is a stand-out act that’s sure to be talked about by avid drama viewers. Behroze Sabzwari and Ayesha Gul are fantastic and deliver a controlled performance without going overboard in any sequence. Special mention for the OST, it’s very catchy, hilarious, and well-shot.
Summing It Up
On the whole, ‘Ishqaway’ is a delicious entertainer that has all the right ingredients humor, emotions and action in perfect proportions.
