Fahad Mustafa’s comeback project ‘Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum’ has been in the news for quite some time. For the unversed, the actor returns to the TV screens after a long hiatus. Starring Hania Aamir as the leading lady, the drama serial is directed by Badar Mehmood and written by Farhat Ishtiaq of ‘Humsafar, Dayar-e-Dil, Udaari’ fame. So what does ‘Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum’ have in the offering? Let’s review.
‘Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum’: The Story
The premise introduces us to the protagonists Sharjeena (Hania Aamir) and Mustafa (Fahad Mustafa). The former is a mature, intelligent and caring individual and a doting daughter to her parents. Mustafa is the exact opposite, he is carefree and irresponsible and does nothing to earn a livelihood. He hacks social media accounts and makes money out of it. Sharjeena is set to marry Mustafa’s elder brother Adeel (Emmad Irfani) an educated yet responsible person who is doing well professionally too. Adeel backs out of the marriage a week before as he gets a plum marriage proposal from his boss. He is greedy and ambitious and jumps to it immediately. Sharjeena is clueless about what to do, she asks Mustafa to marry her.
‘Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum’: Impressive Aspects
The story by Ishtiaq is simple, but the proceedings are taut and engaging. The dialogues are sharp and many one-liners stand out. Mehmood’s direction is terrific. He doesn’t waste time and the story begins from the first scene itself. One doesn’t get bored at all. His biggest achievement is that he doesn’t make the enterprise heavy. The tone is light-hearted and hence, it has ample mass appeal. The camera work is also quite impressive.
‘Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum’: Strong Performances
It’s great to see Fahad Mustafa’s acting chops on prime time. Clumsy and carefree, he gets into the skin of the character. He gets the postures and gestures just right. Hania Aamir puts up a very impressive act. Emmad Irfani has an important role and leaves a huge mark. The supporting cast does well too.
Is ‘Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum’ Worth Watching?
Yes, it certainly is! ‘Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum’ tells a simple story in a very stylish and entertaining manner. The performances of Fahad Mustafa, Hania Aamir and Emmad Irfani further enhance the impact.
