Mirzapur 3: Series Review

Mirzapur was that one show which showed us what true, absolute Desi entertainment looks like when done with good production value. As we enter season 3, it loses its core bawaal factor and strictly becomes a political drama. Many subplots are excessively stretched without powerful moments, making it boring. The acting performances are good, but the actor who stood out for us was Anjum as Sharad. He brought charisma to his character. The interesting traits of the characters have been kept far away, and the progression is very monotonous in every episode. One or two scenes really stand out, featuring Ali Fazal under the influence of drugs and gore violence.

The Desi humor is missing. The background score is average. The Tyagi subplot felt wasted considering the time the makers invested in those scenes. You keep waiting for characters to do something that advances the storyline maturely, but it all comes back to confusing mindsets and sluggish writing. Pankaj Tripathi’s minimal screen presence also contributes to the bored nature of the storytelling. The ending felt unjustified and rushed, and it didn’t create excitement for season 4. Overall, it’s sad as a Mirzapur fan, but we still have hopes that it may bounce back next time.
