The LAAM Fashion Week stage recently glowed with the unveiling of Zainab Chottani’s “Night Garden – A Couture Reverie.” True to the collection’s name, the runway was transformed into a botanical dreamscape defined by rich jewel tones and high-octane shimmer.
The collection leaned heavily into evening wear that balances tradition with a modern edge. Highlights included:
- Diverse Silhouettes: A versatile range featuring experimental saris, tailored jackets, flowing kaftans, and classic shalwars.
- Signature Craftsmanship: The pieces were noted for their neat embellishments and creative use of ombré hues.
- Wearability: Above all, the collection felt accessible and ready for the red carpet.

However, fashion critics noted a sense of “déjà vu.” While the execution was flawless and the aesthetic was undeniably “glam,” some felt it lacked the boundary-pushing innovation in color and silhouette that Chottani has been known for in previous seasons. It was a beautiful display of craftsmanship, even if it played it a bit safe.
