Celebrated filmmaker Sarmad Khoosat is making a grand comeback to telefilms with “Roshan Raahein,” a project close to his heart after a hiatus of ten years. The teaser for this upcoming telefilm hints at a gripping story, boasting a cast of talented actors including Sania Saeed, Rasti Farooq, and Aleeza Fatima.
Centered on a young woman navigating challenges in her locality due to the lack of streetlights, “Roshan Raahein” tackles the universal issue of safety and accessibility for women. The trailer reveals a compelling tale of resilience against bureaucratic apathy and victim-blaming, shedding light on societal challenges concerning women’s safety and freedom of movement.
Expressing his excitement on Instagram, Khoosat stated, “I used to love telefilms/stand-alone teleplays, but they became passé and stopped making any lucrative sense. Literally after a decade or so, I got an opportunity to direct this heartwarming story with some of my favorite collaborators. It’s releasing soon.”
With outstanding performances, a compelling plot, and a theme of empowerment, “Roshan Raahein” presents itself as a promising project from the director of “Kamli.” As viewers eagerly anticipate its premiere, the trailer has already sparked excitement, promising a cinematic journey that transcends mere entertainment, highlighting the power that arises when individuals come together for a shared cause.
Directed by Khoosat and penned by Nirmal Bano, the telefilm’s storyline and concept are attributed to Rashida Dohad and the Omar Asghar Khan Foundation. The cast includes acclaimed actors such as Sania Saeed, Rasti Farooq, Omer Ghaffar, Aleeza Fatima, Adeel Afzal, among others, in significant roles. Produced by Sundas Hashmi, “Roshan Raahein” is scheduled for release on YouTube.
