Veteran actor Masood Akhtar passed away in Lahore on March 5. He leaves behind a widow and two daughters. The 82-year-old was hospitalized for two months after his health deteriorated. He was battling lung cancer for a couple of months. His funeral was held at Usman Park, Lahore and was laid to rest in Miani Sahib Graveyard.
Born on Sept 5, 1940, Masood Akhtar won the Pride of Performance Award for his artistic services in 2005. He performed in around 135 films of which 78 were Urdu, 51 Punjabi and three of his films were dubbed in Pashto. For the unversed, he was the pioneer in starting stage drama at Alhamra Arts Council.
