Mahira Khan Joins Hands with No More Foundation to Eliminate Domestic and Sexual violence
“The more we speak out against domestic and sexual violence, the more power we take from our abusers” said Mahira Khan in an Instagram post when she announced of being a part of No More Foundation the international campaign #JoinTheChorus to increase awareness of domestic and sexual violence and call for collective action.
Her post read; “Let’s break the culture of silence that has enabled domestic and sexual violence to persist for so long.”
‘Join the Chorus’ has been initiated to prevent domestic violence and sexual assault in fifty-four member countries of the Commonwealth, led by No More Foundations. For the unversed, The Commonwealth Secretariat is the intergovernmental organization that supports member countries to achieve the Commonwealth’s aims of development, democracy and peace.
In a video post the actor shared some information about the campaign and said “Hi I’m Mahira Khan, an actor from Pakistan, and I invite you to ‘join the chorus’ and say ‘no more’ to domestic and sexual violence.”
Khan shared another video associated with the campaign that said, “Home is not a safe place for everyone. Together, we can help free those harmed by domestic and sexual violence.”
As per the official website: #JoinTheChorus “aims to increase awareness of domestic and sexual violence and call for collective action”. The campaign is led by artist FKA twigs who’s joined by renowned public figures such as Rose Byrne, Joselyn Dumas, Khan, and Thandiwe Newton.
