(Q) You’ve played some really interesting roles on the big screen. As of now are you sure, which script would work and which wouldn’t?
(A) I know for a fact, good content if shot engagingly will work big time.
(Q) What makes your role in this film different from the ones you played so far?
(A) I have played different roles, but I haven’t played a character like in Mastani. She is an innocent yet crazy girl next door. At times she is offensive, soft-hearted, funny, and willing to make a change in society. I do relate to Aliya personally.
(Q) Are you happy with the response to the trailer of Mastaani?
(A) Yes. I felt very happy when my colleagues and people from the fraternity said that the trailer of ‘Mastaani’ looked like a film.
(Q) What were the challenges like to get into the skin of Mastaani?
(A) We shot the film in Rawalpindi in extreme winters, so that was a big challenge itself. Also, to forget your own personality and play a character that is so light and likable was tough.
(Q) How would you rate your on-screen chemistry with Affan?
10/10 (smiles)
(Q) Irrespective of how your films fare at the box office, your performances have always managed to impress both the audience and critics. How do you view this?
(A) It’s a winning situation for me. I am happy my critics like me; that is the reason why I do a lot of films. As for the box office, several factors are attached to it. Also, we have limited screens, I hope ‘Mastaani’ does well on the box office too.
(Q) Do you think you are in the best phase of your career right now?
(A) Personally, I am in the best phase of my life for sure. As far as work is concerned, I am still looking for characters that satisfy my soul.
(Q) Give us three reasons why people should watch Mastaani?
(A) Firstly, it’s a family entertainer with thrilling elements aplenty. Secondly, the music and cinematography is great. Thirdly, come to see me (smiles).
