Geo Entertainment is on a spree of showcasing quality content. So far we have seen, Jannat Se Aagay, Kalank, Mujhe Qabool Nahi and now Manant Murad has joined the race. What’s commendable are the completely different genres that are keeping the viewers invested. Mannat Murad is a refreshing addition to the list.
Cast and Makers
Mannat Murad has been written by Nadia Akhtar, is directed by Syed Wajahat Hussain and features Iqra Aziz, Talha Chahour and Irsa Ghazal in pivotal roles. It is bankrolled by Abdullah Kadwani and Asad Qureshi of 7th Sky Entertainment and airs on every Mon-Tue at 8:00 pm on GEO Entertainment.
The Plot
Murad (Talha Chahour) hails from a middle-class family and is the only son of his dominating mother Raesa Sultana (Irsa Ghazal) and four sisters. He is honest and obedient and takes care of the entire family. At times, he gets irritated with her mother’s constant scrutiny on him. He wants to feel free and breathe. On the contrary Mannat (Iqra Aziz) is an educated, strong and independent girl who comes from a well-established family. She is the only pampered sister of four brothers.
Murad and Manant cross paths as the former’s family arrives at the latter’s place with a marriage proposal. Unfortunately, things don’t go as expected and the situation turns into great confusion. Resultantly, the proposal gets canceled. Later on, Murad finds out that his and Mannat’s workplace is in the same building. And the two start seeing each other.
Easy On The Eye
Mannat Murad is designed to target the mass commercial audience and it achieves its target big time. The drama serial is easy on the eye and showcases realistic and relatable situations of everyday life. Syed Wajahat Hussain’s direction is decent. He handles the scale and mass elements well. He also scores in the emotional and comic moments. Handling such diverse and distinct characters and giving them justice is no easy task. In this regard, Wajahat succeeds big time.
Class Acts
More than the leads Mannat and Murad, the show is dominated by Irsa Ghazal. Boy oh Boy, she goes into the skin of a Punjabi mother with full conviction. Her accent, body language and expressions are totally on point. Talha Chahour puts up a great act and is super convincing as the sugar and sweet boy. This is also his most commercial role and he nails it. Iqra Aziz looks stunning and performs ably.
Summing it up
All said and done, Mannat Murad is a mass entertainer. The plot along with great performances has the potential to fetch great viewership.
