There’s something enigmatic about him. Unlike other actors, he has sustained himself as the leading man in ‘tutorial roles’ for more than two decades now. He refrains himself from mediocrity and invests his craft in making memorable characters. Racking up credits from his last hits Fraud and Mere Humnasheen, Ahsan Khan can’t keep calm as his upcoming drama ‘Sukoon’ is set to hit the marquee.
In an exclusive conversation, Khan spoke to Fashion Times Magazine about the one aspect that made him say yes to the project, “Sukoon came across as a great package that offered me a solid script, a great director, credible production house backed up with good technical staff and dependable co-stars. Sukoon is about a lot of people trying to get Sukoon (tranquility) in their lives. It’s a family drama that showcases a roller coaster of emotions, tossed with intense, dramatic and romantic moments.”
Khan revealed about his character and said, “My character is the savior to the premise in many ways. He is a nice and courteous guy who binds the family together and respects valuable relationships in life. He’s a troubleshooter who makes life easier for the family and eliminates their personal and professional grudges.”
Sukoon marks the first collaboration of Khan and actor Sana Javed. “I have always been friends with Sana for long. We have earlier starred together in a TV commercial. She has great potential and is tremendously talented. I shared a good equation with her on set. Sukoon was a casual and fun set, it didn’t feel like working. The vibe was friendly, at times people on set would remind us to focus on work. (smiles)”
Expressing his idea of choosing his characters, Khan said, “I pick characters that are interesting to perform and watch. There isn’t any specific formula, I feel being in an actor’s capacity, it is important to see its arch and impact. Besides, the margin of performance, screen time and dialogues make the final result engaging.”
Elaborating on the same he added, “Every project isn’t about a message. I have done several message-oriented work in the past as the script demanded it. On the contrary, I feel actors should be more responsible in picking up characters. They shouldn’t project dreadful aspects of the society and justify it too.”
Concluding the conversation we asked Ahsan Khan, whether he is satisfied with his career graph or if he is still looking for glorious peaks. “I am lucky to have the love of people for so long, acting or hosting, they have accepted me in whatever I do. I try to be a better version of myself; it’s a never-ending journey. The victory for me is to make viewers happy with a different flavor every time.
