Actor Yasir Hussain was last seen in Abu Aleeha’s Javed Iqbal co-starring Ayesha Omar. Yasir has quite a few interesting films lined up for release. Speaking exclusively to Fashion Times Magazine, Yasir said, “One of my films ‘Peechay Tau Dekho’ releases on June 17. It is Pakistan’s first horror-comedy film. We’ve shot forty percent of the film on chroma (green screen) and special effects. My role in the film is of a ‘loser boy’ from Hyderabad. The film has shaped up very well.”
He added, “Just a week away, my next feature film Chaudhry will release on June 24. I play the role of a journalist. The film is based on the life events of Mohammad Aslam Khan, better known as Chaudhry Aslam.”
His last release Javed Iqbal has been in the news for all the right reasons. The film has been getting global recognition but hasn’t been released in Pakistan. “Yes, Javed Iqbal was selected as the opening film for its world premiere at the UK Film Festival. It got the maximum number of shows as compared to other films. I and Abu Aleeha (director) won the award for best actor and best director respectively.”
There’s also a buzz on social media that Javed Iqbal has been selected for the Berlin International Art Film Festival. However, Yasir is still waiting for final confirmation on that. “Even I read this news on social media (chuckles). The production team hasn’t given me any confirmation or invitation regarding this. Let’s see what happens.”
For the unversed, Javed Iqbal had its Karachi premiere on January 25. The very next day, the director took to Twitter and shared that the Punjab government had put a halt to the film hitting the cinemas. However, According to Dawn Images, director Abu Aleeha is planning to pitch an uncut version of the film to be pitched to OTT platforms.
