Popular playwright Khalil-ur-Rehman isn’t new to controversies. He has never shied away from expressing his opinions, even if it meant locking horns with big names. His forthright and unapologetic nature and bluntness often leads to heated exchanges and public spats with those who disagree with him. Be it Mahira Khan, Adnan Malik, Iffat Omar to the recent Noman Ijaz and Saba Qamar, Rehman is making enemies one after the other.
The media often highlights his controversial statements, amplifying their impact. In a recent interview, the playwright was asked which person in life he hates the most. He answered Noman Ijaz. He didn’t disclose the reason but he openly expressed his feelings. Subsequently in another interview, he said that we won’t be working with actor Saba Qamar as he doesn’t like how she dresses up. He mentioned that Qamar did a wonderful job in his play ‘Bunty I Love You’ but still is reluctant to work with her again.
His frequent fights with others are driven by a combination of his traditional views, his outspoken personality, and his reaction to criticism. His confrontational style and unwillingness to conform to progressive ideologies make him a polarizing figure in the entertainment industry. The question arises what is the need to mix up personal opinions into professional equation? Making enemies in the same industry doesn’t seem to be a wise choice.
