Actor and director Shamoon Abbasi has raised serious concerns about being excluded from the official credits of HUM TV’s latest drama, Jinn Ki Shadi Unki Shadi, featuring Wahaj Ali and Sehar Khan.
On HUM TV’s official platforms — including YouTube and the channel’s website — the drama lists Syed Nabeel as the writer, Saife Hasan as the director, and Momina Duraid Productions as the producer. Abbasi’s name, however, is nowhere to be found.
Shamoon Abbasi’s Claims:
In a Facebook post on Thursday, Abbasi alleged that not only did he develop the story and screenplay, but he also came up with the title of the show.
“I would like to thank all the audiences around the world that are liking my serial Jinn Ki Shadi Unki Shadi (title also given by me) as well as my story and screenplay,” Abbasi wrote.
He added that he worked for four months on the project, dictating scenes and tracks to the writer, as part of his plan to eventually direct the drama himself. Abbasi claimed that his name still appears in the scripts distributed to actors on set.
A Lesson Learned:
Abbasi expressed disappointment, calling it a lesson learned about giving away hard work without a concrete plan.
He clarified that his post was meant for awareness purposes and not to provoke conflict — though he asserted that he holds evidence and rights to prove his contributions if challenged.
A Fresh Take on TV Dramas:
Despite the controversy, Abbasi expressed satisfaction with how audiences have received the drama:
“I’m happy that the project brought change in the stale, stinky drama industry that is losing its touch with cringe dramas everywhere. Jinn Ki Shadi Unki Shadi is my thought and it proves that my stories are connecting with the audiences, Alhamdulillah.”
The accusations have sparked debate among fans and industry watchers, raising questions about credit ethics in Pakistani television.
