Love stories are beaten to death. The genre has been rehashed, visited and re-visited again and again and again. So much so that all love stories look, seem and sound alike. But, HUM TV’s Mohabbat Gumshuda Meri helmed by Shahid Shafaat, takes a fresh look at teenage love story.
Frankly, the story isn’t new. but the execution takes it to another level altogether.
Also, for any love story to work wonders, it ought to have the germs to make the viewer jump with joy and participate in the goings-on. And the principal characters here, the young Dananeer Mobeen and Khushhal Khan are so real, so natural, so believable and so winsome that the viewer gets absorbed into their world as minutes pass by.
Mohabbat Gumshuda Meri: The Plot
Saim (Khushhal Khan) and Zoubia (Dananeer Mobeen) are childhood friends and neighbors. They share a unique bond and can’t finish their day without talking to each other for hours to end. Saim gets possessive about Zoubia when one of his friends wants to date her. They realize that they are now more than friends, but eventually, the Zalim Samaj intervenes in between.
Refreshing Execution
Shahid Shafaat, deserves brownie points for handling the subject with such maturity. The fun-laden scenes are truly funny and the emotional ones make you moist-eyed. Striking the right balance between light and heavy moments is akin to walking on a tight rope and Shahid handles the two extremes with remarkable ease.
Surprise Stellar Performances
The real magic of this Mohabbat Gumshuda Meri lies in the performances of its two main leads who seize your attention from the moment they first appear on screen. Uninhibited and spontaneous, Dananeer Mobeen and Khushhal Khan are the soul of this enterprise, the biggest strength, as the duo brings alive their characters with not just those smart lines, but with the kind of candor actors seldom invest in their work so early on in their career.
