It’s official! The long-awaited Mahira Khan and Fawad Khan starrer Neelofar is finally hitting theatres this winter, the cast and filmmakers confirmed through a heartfelt Instagram announcement.
The caption read: “Agli mulaqat ka intezar rahay ga.. (Will be waiting till we meet again). Neelofar — This winter.”
A Journey Delayed by Covid-19
Originally wrapping up filming in December 2020, Neelofar was among the many projects affected by the pandemic. With just 10 days of shooting left at the time, production came to a halt as restrictions tightened worldwide.
Even then, the stars kept fans intrigued without giving away much. At an event in June last year, Fawad Khan hinted at the project’s progress: “Our film Neelofar is almost in its completion phase, so that’s one forthcoming release.”
Mahira Khan’s Emotional Connection
Back in 2020, Mahira Khan built excitement for the film with cryptic yet emotional posts. In April that year, she revealed: “We were shooting for the film before this entire situation [Covid] happened. There were only 10 days left for the shooting but now we don’t even know when it’ll be finished.”
When the film finally wrapped, she penned a touching message for her character:
“I take with me a piece of you […] leaving a bit of my soul with you. My darling Neelofar, I shall miss you, oh so much.”
She also took the time to appreciate the tireless efforts of the team:
“Everyone of them put their heart and soul into it. Can’t wait for all of you to see our hard work and love on your screens soon. Ameen!”
The Countdown Begins
While details about the film’s story remain under wraps, the combination of Mahira and Fawad — two of Pakistan’s most beloved stars — guarantees Neelofar will be one of the most talked-about cinematic releases of the year.
