Will ‘Tere Bin’ Manage to Bounce Back After Unexpected Plot Twist?

Wahaj Ali and Yumna Zaidi starrer Tere Bin has been a rage. Not just in Pakistan, the interesting journey of two individuals who are poles apart kept the global viewers engaged to the proceedings. The episodes have repeatedly trended at the top of India’s YouTube charts. The captain of the ship Director Siraj ul Haq created and maintained the magical chemistry between Murtasim and Meerab until viewers were hit by a truck with an unexpected plot twist in episode 46. Marital rape? What was the writer even thinking?

 What Actually Happened?

Haya did what she does best. She planned yet another scheme to make differences between Murtasim and Meerab. Resultantly they get into a heated argument and the latter not just slaps but spat on the former face. Things go out of control, Murtasim gets furious and attempts marital rape and assault.

Heartbroken Fans

The fan base felt cheated as they invested their heart and soul into the love story and surely don’t deserve to see such stuff. Many blamed the writer for demolishing Mutasim’s character arch. People were outraged over the use of rape as a plot device and the normalization of the crime in a culture where victims of rape rarely get justice.

“It’s a situation which was the demand of the serial that will lead to the climax,” she told Arab News. “If the audience isn’t getting it, I can’t change it,” she said. “It’s just a drama. They should wait for the entire story to unfold instead of taking issue with every episode,” she said.

She added, “It’s not like this has happened onscreen for the first time. It’s just that this project has received such wide recognition that people reacted strongly to the recent twist.”

Jumping To Conclusion
