Sad But True: Here’s Why Game Shows In Pakistan Are The Major Source Of Juicy Controversies!

Game Shows In Pakistan

Over the years, the rules in the entertainment industry are changing at a rapid pace. The hunger to seek ratings, TRPs and YouTube views has led channels to cross all limits. Talking of entertainment in the form of game shows, one expects it to be in maximum doses but certainly within the jurisdiction of decency. Unfortunately, this isn’t the case anymore, game shows now have turned into an ideal source of juicy controversies.

The Toxic Rapid Fire Questions

Inspired by Bollywood’s talk show Koffee with Karan, the content creators leave no stone unturned to design controversial rapid-fire questions. Who is the most difficult actor to work with?, Who does more makeup on screen, or which actor needs to take acting lessons etc. etc.

The studio audience and viewers watching from home thoroughly enjoy such gossips that gradually trends on social media. In an era where the importance of mental health is discussed worldwide, it hampers the targeted celebrity big time. Sad but true!

Targeted Celebrities

Recently at ARY Digital’s ‘The Fourth Empire Show’ director Nadeem Baig was asked to pick an actor with the most ‘nakhray’ (tantrums). The options were Urwa Hocane, Ayeza Khan and Mehwish Hayat. Nadeem answered Urwa. In another question, when he was asked to name an actor who gives tough times while matching dance steps. The options were Humayun Saeed, Urwa Hoance and Gohar Rasheed. Nadeem laughingly named Urwa and Humayun.

The jibe didn’t go well with actor Urwa Hocane and she responded to Baig in a long note on social media.

Her post read, “It’s so unfortunate that the formats of our shows are such that each member of the industry has to put the other down for the sake of ratings in the garb of fun. Now that it’s come to this, I would like to elaborate my side of [the] story. Nadeem bhai and I have only done one project together and had one difference [in] opinion about the song ‘Lak Hilna’ where we eventually went with his aesthetics, choice of song, and the dance step[s] as I sensed he was unwilling to hold a discussion.”

In another episode model and actor, Sunita Marshal was given to name a model who shouldn’t act. Sunita named Sadaf Kanwal.

And who could forget the shameful act by comedian Sheikh Qasim in the nasty rapid fire with actor Sami Khan

Summing It Up

It is high time that we should leave behind these controversial tactics to gain viewership. Why not design something creative that should benefit all and most importantly doesn’t hamper someone’s mental piece.
