PSL 2021 Final: Multan Sultans defeat Peshawar Zalmi to win their first maiden PSL title

Mohammad Rizwan-led Multan Sultans beat Wahab Riaz-led Peshawar Zalmi in the PSL final by 47 runs to win the PSL 2021 title. The crunch finale took place at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium, in Abu Dhabi, on June 25, 2021

 

Road to Finale

Sultans registered a convincing win over table-toppers Islamabad United to reach the final whereas Zalmi beat Karachi Kings and Islamabad in both eliminators to reach their fourth PSL final.

 

The Toss

Peshawar Zalmi won the toss and elected to field first.

 


Match Highlights

Multan Sultans batted first and scored 206/7. Peshwar Zalmi put up a tough fight until Imran Tahir’s magical spell turned the match. He took 2 wickets in 2 balls, from 150/5, Tahir reduced them to 151/8. Wahab Riaz and Mohammad Imran left in procession of golden ducks. Zalmi finished with 159/9 in 20 overs, and Sultans celebrated their maiden title.

 


HBLPSL6 Rewind

It was a long, winding journey, but what an unforgettable one it was. From Karachi to Abu Dhabi, the six sixes produced memorable cricket. And in the end, HBLPSL6 saw another first-time winner, as Multan took the longest road to victory.
