There’s no doubt about the fact that Bollywood celebs enjoy a massive fan following. Like every picture has two sides, so do fans. Some succeeded in winning hearts but some cross all the limits. Veteran singer Sonu Nigam became a victim of the latter. He was recently manhandled by an MLA’ son at the Chembur Festival in Mumbai.
According to Mumbai Police, “After [the] live concert, Sonu Nigam was coming down from stage when a man held him”, said Rajput. “After objection, he pushed Sonu Nigam and two other men with him from the steps; one of those two men sustained injuries.” Quote Source: Khaleej Times
The assailant has been identified as Swapnil Phaterpekar, the son of local Shiv Sena MLA Prakash Phaterpekar. The former had allegedly reached out to Nigam for a selfie when the scuffle broke out between him and the singer’s security.

The attack has sent shockwaves in the music industry. Popular singer Shaan has expressed his anger over the incident and demanded strict action against the culprits. Sharing the statement by Indian Singers’ Rights Association (ISRA), Shaan wrote, ‘I’m am appalled and disgusted at what has happened .. and in Mumbai ?!? A city that is known for its law and order, and safety. As a fellow artist, a fan, as part of fraternity, I expect some action to be taken by the Authorities against the miscreants responsible for this rowdy misconduct and violence…” Source: Shaan’s Instagram
Mika Singh has reacted to the recent scuffle involving fellow singer Sonu Nigam over a selfie. Taking to Twitter, Mika Singh called the incident ‘sad and shocking’. He also said that while doing shows in North India he has a ‘minimum of 10 bodyguards’. The singer added that in Mumbai he doesn’t have any bodyguards.
