One of the most sought-after designers, Faiza Saqlain continues to remain on the wishlist of any bride and groom awaiting their wedding bells to chime. The designer is indeed a favorite with the stars, who love to sport her both off and on-screen. Faiza’s new bridal collection 2021 ‘Khurshid’ can be described as “Opulent” with a design narrative inspired by the joy of living a slow-paced life in a small town of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a place of idyllic beauty in the mountains. The new collection holds eminent importance in her life as she dedicates the campaign to her mother.
However, this season sees the designer take a different route as she not only switches to darker tones, but also the fact that it is fronted by none other than powerhouse performer Mahira Khan. Each outfit has a different story, from hand woven embroidered pishwas to silk lehngas, Mahira Khan as ‘Khurshid’ defines opulence. Let’s take a look…
Anamta
Khurshid looked out onto the decorations relishing the sound of rubab that had started filling the air. She looked like a dream in this ivory tulle double-layered pishwas, with hand-worked dabka & zardozi embroidery and hand cut sitara. Her white pishwas glimmered as the broken rays of sunshine entered through the window. The silver intricate jewelry and less make-up completed the look. Her dress sparkled as she slid outside the narrow door to finally see him as her groom.
Zarrin
All her friends and cousins had gathered for an afternoon of festivities, a day after the Nikkah. Khurshid looked resplendent in a yellow tulle and silk lehnga with choli set featuring floral motifs and bootis wrought using dabka, zardozi and resham. The statement earrings and open tresses looked on point. Although the mehndi and matching bangles were the highlights. She looked like a dancing daffodil against the green grassy background. Exhilarated by the colorful flags and celebrations she beamed just like the floral artwork on her lehnga which flickered whenever it caught sunlight.
Mahro
His family was coming to be a part of celebrations today, she wondered if he’d come too. Khurshid was a vision in this Aqua lehnga adorned with resham florals and celestial filigree. Styled with a pair of meticulously hand-worked dupatta and choli added a touch of glamour. What stood out about the stunning look was the intricate zardozi embroidery in naqshi – dabka and patch work, giving it a romantic twist. A smile runs through her at that thought and lost in celebrations she spun with the girls in her deftly adorned lehnga choli, sent by her mother in law.
Durkhanai
Just a day before baraat, a huge get-together was thrown as a farewell to the most beloved of the family. Dressed in her mom’s heavily hand-worked emerald green gharara set, she was striking in appearance. Planning to wear a traditional gharara set at your wedding? Then Durkhanai is the perfect piece for you. The handwork ensemble features a delicate tracery and floral trellises on the gharara and meticulous booti work on the kameez. Paired with a hand embellished dupatta, the tika, jhoomar and earrings enlighten her beauty. Khurshid was equally looked up to by young girls for being one of the very few to have studied till the senior-most class of the village school,

The house was brimming with the wedding spirit and the smell of roses had started filling the air. He must be on the way she thought as she picked up her bridal set admiring each and every detail on the sumptuous red fabric. Khurshid stood out in sumptuously hand worked red lehnga choli set wrought using zardozi, dabka, naqshi and embellished with sequins and resham. The all-golden jewelry with red lips makes this outfit a showstopper. She woke up to see the palanquin resting in the backyard. It was the day of new beginnings and her exhilarated mind wandered to the thoughts of a beautiful future.
