Hum Style Awards 2021: A Night of Grace and Glamour

Glittering gowns, perfect make-up and that million-dollar smile…  HUM Style Awards (HSAs)      one of country’s biggest celebrations of the fashion fraternity in Pakistan, hosted its fifth edition on Sunday at Pearl Continental Hotel, Lahore. HSAs is the sole award show in Pakistan that pays homage to celebrate and acknowledge the stylish and trendsetting stars of the fashion and entertainment industry.

Paving its path away from the usual high budget, star-studded display of extravagance that characterizes Fashion, this year too, some groundbreaking winners were applauded. Hosted by Urwa Hocane and Ali Zafar, the event was attended by popular names like Adnan Siddique, Imran Ashraf, Aijaz Aslam, Resham, Maya Ali, Bilal Ashraf among others. Ahead, a look at all the must-see highlights that make (HSAs) a big success.

Red Carpet Returns

A return to the red carpet meant a return to fashion form for many celebrities. After an year of celebrities talking about social justice and climate change on social media due to COVID-19, this was a moment to take their images to where their insta was. It was exciting to see people dress up again. There was… glamor! The dress codes were “Inspirational and Aspirational”. Combining these two terms and what, do we get? The general snack seemed to be: hurray! There were no big gaffs; nobody fell off her heels or tripped over her huge gown. In fact, most of the people looked stunning.

A Fair Affair

Every year, HUM looks back at the hits and misses of the previous year, and applauds not just Fashion, but also people, who have been instrumental in creating path-breaking creations. This year was no different. As per the words of the President HUM Network Limited, Sultana Siddiqui, “The mega brand of HUM Style Awards empowers our artists from the booming entertainment and fashion landscape of the country. Like always, we are committed to deliver fair results to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of the nominees.”

 Well-Handled SOP’s

Hats off to HUM, the team for facing the pandemic head-on, and pulling off the award ceremony. With a special focus on the safety of the attendees, dedicated measures were adopted to ensure that all Covid-19 SOPs are followed. That in itself was perhaps the greatest accomplishment of a well-intentioned ceremony that exuded elegance.

Stars Who Brought the Fashion We Need

Fahmeen Ansari

Setting the tone white, Fahmeen Ansari twirled on the red carpet in a gorgeous halter neck dress by Hussain Rehar. The long-braided ponytail with balanced makeup elevated her sizzling look for the night.

Aima Baig

Baig opted for a delicate look. She sported an off-shoulder gown with puffy sleeves. The subtle make-up and jewelry had us hooked to her sophisticated fashion statement.

Alizeh Shah

Shah put her best foot forward in a black ball gown by Ali Xeeshan. Her simple hairdo and sparkling ear cuffs did all the talking.

Ayesha Omar

Making yet another remarkable statement on the red carpet, Ayesha Omar dazzled in a long trail white outfit from Zamanay. A tight sleek bun, minimal drop earrings and the belt details around her sleek waist were a great choice to finish the look.

Maya Ali

When in doubt, opt for black. Maya Ali’s off- shoulder outfit was one of the cutest thing that night.

Amar Khan

Amar Khan went for an all-out glam look in her silver column dress. She looked like an enchantress with Smokey eyes and her hair pulled back.

Maha Tahirani

Bringing sexy back in a high flowy gown, Maha carried the creation with intrinsic grace.  It was indeed a bold and a beautiful statement.

Aijaz Aslam

It’s good to stick to a suit when it is as well-tailored as the one Aijaz is wearing here.

Imran Ashraf

This red carpet look for Imran is to die for! He looks dapper in a black jacket with intricate embroidery work with the bow-tie adding just the right amount of zest to the whole look.

Aimal Khan

From someone who understands fashion as much as this man here, we could have only expected something as sophisticated. Classy!

Tabesh Khoja

Do you know what we love? A bold, unusual silhouette. Tabesh did not disappoint us. At all.

Nabila

The Guru of the fashion world makes a killer style statement.

Hasnain Lehri and Sabeeka Imam

The classic Sherwani is always a great choice. However, what happened to Sabeeka’s outfit and her hairstyle?

Looking Good Is No Longer Enough

Sonya Hussyn

As someone who is always setting style goals, Sonya Hussyn doesn’t usually go wrong with her sartorial choices. However, her neon green suit on the red carpet was a total flop. This ill-fitted suit could have been avoided.

HSY

The King of couture disappointed big time. It felt as if he was attending a Lahori wedding wearing a black kurta-shalwar with brogue shoes.

Abeer Rizvi

It seems as if Abeer forgot to put on the rest of the dress.

Ali Xeeshan

Big glasses, crown, oversized bathrobe, and long capes are just Ali Xeeshan’s thing, and we get it. But, something is off about this look including the oversized polka dots.

Nausheen Shah

In the most stylish awards, Shah didn’t look stylish at all. Her dress wasn’t suitable for an award function. Although it was different from the usual gowns and sarees, somehow the entire look didn’t work for us.

Mashal Khan

Mashal looked fierce in a thigh-high slit gown. She looked like a high school student dressed up for Halloween.

Resham

She decided to look like mango ice cream on a red carpet. Resham should immediately fire her stylist ASAP.

Omair Rana

We are so not in for this bland look. In addition, the color and poor fit looked awkward.

Uzair Jaswal

We were quite not impressed with his street style blazer with all the design on one side.
