Music fans of Pakistan are in a state of shock as Indian film producer Sajid Naiadwala has decided to remake Coke Studio’s blockbuster track Pasoori for his upcoming release ‘Satyaprem Ki Katha’ starring Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani in the lead roles.
As reported by Bollywood Hungama, “The shooting will commence on June 21 and will be shot in Mumbai for over a period of two days. The set is being put up and the team is ready to unleash their final brahmastra in the release week. The song, Pasoori, is extremely popular in the digital world and the team is hoping to recreate the same magic”.
Who Owns Pasoori Rights?
Dawn (Images) reached out to Coke Studio, and one of their representative of the studio said, “The ownership of the song ‘Pasoori’ lies with singer and composer Ali Sethi”. However, it is important to mention that Pasoori is licensed to Believe Music, Latin Autor Perf, Latin Autor – Sony ATV, Abramus Digital, ASCAP, The Royalty Network, and 10 music rights societies.
The Record-Breaking Success of Pasoori
Pasoori was featured in the sixth episode of Coke Studio 14. Sung by Ali Sethi and debutant Shae Gill, the song’s unique melody became an instant hit worldwide. It grabbed the first spot on Spotify’s prestigious Viral 50, Global chart. Not just that, it was the first Coke Studio song to feature on this list. The song was included in episode four of the Disney+ miniseries Ms. Marvel. Moreover, as per Google Trends’ Year in Search 2022, it was also the most-searched song in the world in 2022.
