Two-time Academy Award-winning Pakistani film-maker Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy bags another award by the British Human Rights Organization The People’s Portfolio for “inspiring leadership, great courage, and compassion for fellow human beings” through her documentaries. The People’s Portfolio is holding their annual fundraiser this year on December 8 at 6 pm where Platon will be celebrating Obaid-Chinoy and her achievements as well as debuting a short film that he has made on her.
Chinoy wrote on Instagram, “I’m honored that The People’s Portfolio will present me with the 2021 Inspiring Leadership Award in a virtual program on December 8th. To amplify the stories and voices of women we need friends and partners that will help us advocate for change at all levels of society.”
She added, “The People’s Portfolio and its founder Platon are allies in the fight to change cultural norms that violate women’s fundamental human rights like domestic abuse, forced marriage, rape, so-called honor killings, and acid attacks around the world. I’m grateful for their partnership and I invite you to attend the virtual program on December 8th.
